About Provider

The Chamber provides members with new business start-up information and assistance in strategic planning that includes free counseling from the Small Business Development Center. The Chamber provides legislative advocacy through a standing committee that meets regularly to discuss legislation and topics that affect business.

Employment Training Panel

ETP is the state’s most valuable economic development resource.  Many companies have located or expanded in California with the assistance of ETP’s job training funds. Our program supports the California economy by funding training for frontline, incumbent workers in companies challenged by out-of-state competition. The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce has been providing training for California IT workers since 2016 with funding that it receives from the State of California’s Employment Training Panel (ETP).  The Chamber has contracted with Saisoft, Inc. to perform the training.  Saisoft specializes in IT worker training and has trained workers for thousands of companies since 2003.  The classes are conducted online and are instructor-led using the latest technologies to deliver a highly interactive learning experience.  Instructors can switch back and forth from showing a presentation or demonstrating on the actual software and can write annotations on the screen.  Students can communicate with the instructor to ask questions.  Students do lab exercises and the instructor reviews their work.  The instructor can see a student’s screen to provide one-on-one assistance.  Due to popular demand and to accommodate schedules of employees from different companies attending the same class, classes are generally conducted after normal business hours.
A wide variety of classes are offered in different technology tracks. For more information, please visit: https://www.lancasterchamber.org/ca-employment-training-panel.html

Young Entrepreneurs Academy

The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a year-long program that teaches middle school students how to start and run their own REAL businesses.  YEA! was developed at the University of Rochester in 2004 with the support of a grant from the Kauffman Foundation, and can now be found in communities nationwide. The Lancaster Chamber of Commerce is excited to be introducing YEA! to the Lancaster Community!

YEA! guides middle school students through the process of starting and running a legitimate business or social movement over the course of a full academic year. As of 2014, YEA! has graduated 2,298 students who have started over 1,700 businesses and social movements!  YEA! graduates start as students, and leave the program as CEOs of their own companies!

Over the course of the program, students:

  • Brainstorm business ideas
  • Write a business plan
  • Interact with business professionals
  • Pitch their business plan to potential “investors” (think ABC’s “Shark Tank”!)
  • Obtain funding
  • Legally register their businesses
  • Participate in a Trade Show
  • Actually launch their own businesses or social movements
